Here in the Faculty of Creative Arts, Technologies & Science (CATS) we administer students from six departments across this range of subject areas and foster academic and research collaboration that is truly interdisciplinary.
We are a vibrant Faculty that motivates our students to gain the knowledge, practical and inter-personal skills they need to succeed in today's modern workplace.
Schools and Departments
School of Computer Science and Technology
We deliver a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses offering an impressive degree of subject and programme flexibility. Our teaching is led by highly qualified staff and is informed by world class research whilst being driven by business projects.
School of Life Sciences
The University of Bedfordshire has been teaching degrees in the Life Sciences for more than 30 years.
Our teaching received a rating of excellent in the last Government assessment by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA)
We offer a broad range of degree programmes which reflect the skills and expertise of our staff.
School of Art and Design
Our Key Skills programme, which runs in year one and two, gives students access to a range of skills from which to choose from - including silkscreen printing,Computer Aided Design, life and technical drawing, printmaking, laser cutting and 3D modelling, typography, pattern cutting, and photography. (The list of skills expands each year as we respond to the needs of employers and the industry students hope to work for).
The skills and thinking learnt in the first year help develop confidence, personal style and thinking; allowing students to enter the second year, full of ideas and creative know-how.
School of Culture and Communications
The School provides a dynamic and collaborative environment in which tomorrow’s journalists, authors, scriptwriters, presenters and future academics or teachers will work alongside each other.
Our courses will give our students the opportunity to develop their talents as a professional or creative writer, communicator, journalist, broadcaster as well as the academic and professional experience for careers in research, production or education.
The programmes are designed to develop practical, professional skills as well as critical thinking and research skills.
School of Media and Performance
The School of Media and Performance provides opportunities for students to develop skills within a subject area in a vibrant and supportive environment.

School of Psychology
The School of Psychology offers a wide range of courses from Foundation degree level up to PhD.
Apart from the main undergraduate BSc (Hons) Psychology course, we offer courses covering specific topics in psychology for those wishing to focus on applied areas such as health psychology, forensic psychology and counselling psychology, all of which are accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and confer the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership
For those wishing to continue beyond the undergraduate level, we offer several MSc level courses two of which are also accredited by the BPS – the MSc Health Psychology and the MSc Forensic Psychology.
